The wonders of links and the problems ...
I'm often using links into NAV (2013) from VBA in Outlook and Excel and it works fine for opening a page view in NAV with some preset filters.
(I'm talking links of this type: dynamicsnav://dkscph-navapp.net.com:7046/nav2013r2_prod/PVNorway/runpage?page=6068740)
There are however a few situations where I cannot get links to do what I wanted.
1. I have never been able på open a report and set parameters and filter.
So for now I have given up on that.
2. Today I then had another problem. I needed to make a link that would open a specific Payment Journal with a specific name ...and couldn't.
If I go into the journal and copy the links then I get something that works but I cannot see the specific name that I had hoped.
What I get is "dynamicsnav://dkscph-navapp.net.arator.com:7046/nav2013r2_prod/PV20Norway/runpage?page=6016850&personalization=6016850&bookmark=38%3BUQAAAAJ7%2F1AATQAAAAJ7%2F1UARABMAEEATgBEAAAAAIcQJw%3D%3D&mode=Edit"
I had hoped for a a link where the name of the record could be seen and where I could use that as a templete and open a journal just knowing it's name.
Any ideas how I can make it work? Is it even possible in current NAV?

Disable printing discount information in promotions
Is there a way to control / disable printing discount information in Silent Promotions and Mix & Match Promotions in NAV? The receipt should be printed with only the offer price / discounted price without including the discount % / price offered versus the original price and text like "total savings.." etc.

overcome the problems of another order processing software?
Lets say there is a company that uses a processing software but it runs very slow, doesn't give all the information and can only handle one order per person in a day. So if the person wants to call back later on after already making the order to modify his order, the software wont allow a change to happen in the order. Is NAV a better alternative to such a software? Can it handle multiple orders or modification of the order per customer in a day? And is it fast and easy to use?

Error publishing extension
Hi,
I am trying to publish an extension to a local service (non-multitenant) and I´m getting an error while calling Publish-NAVApp. It runs for about 60 seconds and finally returns with an error:
I tried calling other cmdlets where ServiceInstance is a parameter and then I get this error:
We use powershell to create NAV service instances, so NAV is not installed on the machine, but it runs perfectly fine and I am able to run the RTC and develop.
I have found out that the problem is due to CustomSettings.config in the RTC folder is being used instead of the filepath of the config provided to the service. Is there any way to force the powershell cmdlets to use the CustomSettings.config file the service is using?

Limited User (licence type)
1. If I use a limited user to write in Item Journal Line (T83) and then this same user posts this line, would this work? (assuming that codeunit 22 -Item Jnal. post line- will write in more than 3 extra tables).
2. If I use a limited user, do I have to specify somewhere which 3 tables he/she can write on, or this limitation is only valid in each different transaction he/she may perform?

Extend job description field to 250 characters
Hello,
I'm try to expand the length of the Job description. I have see in the MSDN who is possible to do that:

So I have extended the length of the field Description in the table Job (167) whithout any error
But now when I try to insert a description more tha 50 character the system permit me to write it but when I save I receive the error:
"The length of the string is 104, but must be less or equal to 50 characters. Value <Inserted string> (Select refresh to discard errors)"
If I make refresh the system clear the field
I use NAV 2017 Update 4

Attaching a URL to a Navision Page
I have done some research into trying to get a page URL on Navision automatically into an email using SMTP mail. I know you can get the link from the options at the top. From what I've seen a feature such as GETURL is used but this doesn't seem to be available in Navision 2013.
How Can I achieve a similar thing in Navision 2013. (Not 2013 R2)

What is your feed back about this tool "For NAV" http://fornav.com?
We are updating our system from NAV_2009 SP1 to Navision 2016 (CU 18). We already upgraded all tables,forms,Code units objects to 2016 object standard.
Now our next step is that we have almost 240 reports which need to be converted from NAV_2009 to NAV_2016 RDLC report design. One of my friends told us that this tool "ForNav" could do the job.
My only problem with this tool is that when I convert my report from 2009 to 2016, If i want to design the new report (which is converted from 2009 to 2016 through ForNav tool) it will open the report in a design layout which is similar to 2009 (ex: Header, Section...).
The question what do your (Navision Developers & Project Managers) recommend? Should we use this tool? or Should we develop the reports our self using the RDLC designer?
our deadline is this December 2017.

Attributes versus Product Product group code
Hi 1. time user in th eforum, we are right now in teh middel of an update from 2009 to 2017 , we are used to have only two "attributes" namely Product group code and Item Category code, now the product group has "gone" i know it is still there but "invisible" we are aiming to use Attributes as this will give us some extra information for the parts that come in handy :-)
NOW big quistion is , how can we by using Rapid have the new attributes set to each part , we have som 22.000 parts so setting them manually will take a decade.
They should in my world either be in Tabel 27 or tabel 7500-7504 should somehow link to the partnumber.
Any suggestions anyone ?

Linking Item Numbers
I want to be able to link a discontinued number to a new item number. So that when our order desk staff enter a discontinued item number on the order form it automatically prompts them to the correct live item number. Is this possible?

Free products loans
Hello,
I am looking for your help about a use of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 because I did not find an appropriate solution and I am sure it is possible to do.
The company I am working for is used to lending products for free and the solution we have to manage this doesn't suit us. Since 1 year, we have lend more than 50 different products approximately 200 times.
We want to keep under control the products we lend so we make a delivery form when it happen. But to create a delivery form, we are obliged to create a bill and the accountant created 190 bills with an amount equal to 0.
We are pretty sure there is a solution inside NAV we did not find. The idea is to make only ONE document to manage this kind of delivery.
